General Information for Volunteers
Girls on the Run is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in contributing their time and talents. Below are several opportunities that we have available. If you have any questions regarding any of our volunteer opportunities, please contact Brandy Pennington, Volunteer Coordinator, at brandy@gotrcentralky.org.
Coach a Program
We’re always looking for enthusiastic coaches to motivate, educate and inspire Girls on the Run program participants during the 12 week session. Head coaches and assistant coaches are needed during the twice-weekly, one-hour sessions. Head coaches prepare and lead each session. Assistant coaches typically attend only one session each week.
Become a Junior Coach
The Junior Coach position is for individuals under the age of 18. This volunteer position may be used as a service learning project/high school community service credit project, internship, or other high school credit project.
Become a Running Buddy
A running buddy attends as many sessions as possible and inspires the participants as they train for the 5k. The running buddies are also paired with one participant on race day, encouraging her to do her best and strive to achieve her goal.
Join a Committee
We are currently looking for interested individuals who are willing to join one of our committees. We currently have openings on our marketing, sponsorship and race committees.
Become a GOTR 5K Race Day Volunteer
Twice a year, we need hands-on, enthusiastic volunteers for our 5K race events in November and May. Race volunteers help with registration, goodie bag distribution, water stops, Happy Hair Station and much more.
Provide Office Support
Help out in the office processing registration, filling coaches boxes, doing mailings and more.
